Character
There was once a wolf who shows an example of a wolf's character and determination. He was the alpha wolf, and he had been injured. His paw had been caught most likely in a metal trap located outside park grounds. The paw had been swollen for seven years. This wolf would still hunt and successfully kill his prey. He limped during his normal gait, but when he was hunting, he would chase prey at speeds rivaling a much younger, healthy wolf. After the battle he would lay there and lick his bleeding, swollen paw. Once he took on a moose; it took him 36 hours of subsequent attacks. The moose almost drowned him in the river. Finally, the moose had been weakened enough by the attacks so that he died. Other wolves joined their alpha wolf to feast on the moose. (McIntyre 87)
